About Sasha!
Sasha Weiss grew up singing and doing community theatre in her hometown of Encino, CA. She made the big move out east to attend The Boston Conservatory and graduated in May 2007. She then moved to NYC to live the dream!
Right off the bat she booked her first show "I and Albert" at The York Theatre. She also found a nice little improv family with "Eight is Never Enough" performing at The Laugh Factory every weekend. While doing that, she was cast in the 2 night extravaganza "Jerry Springer the Opera" at Carnegie Hall starring Harvey Keitel, directed by Jason Moore and musical directed by Stephen Oremus. She then went on her very first TV audition for ABC's "What Would You Do?" and booked it! She was flown off to Paris to film the season premiere episode "Ugly Americans in Paris".
Once she got back to the big apple she started performing her series of themed cabarets "Sasha Sings..." throughout the next year and a half. But she was quickly called back to ABC's "What Would You Do?" to film another episode entitled "Overly Friendly Customers" in Las Vegas! She then returned to NYC and to The York Theatre in "The Grand Tour" in May 2009.
She studied under the inspirational Craig Carnelia in his musical performance class, and has studied improv at UCB (the Upright Citizens Brigade). In November 2009 she was cast in the amazing Industry reading of "Carrie: The Musical" among an all-star cast, directed by Stafford Arima and worked once again with Musical Director Stephen Oremus. She then was lucky enough to be a part of the wonderfully zanny "Queen Bea: A Soapsical!" written by childhood friend Daniel Lincoln and Gena Oppenheim. She has performed for many new composer showcases and readings, working with some amazing talents such as Joel Waggoner, Julian Blackmore, Sebastian Fabal, and Donny Coddon (to name a few!) She has continued to enjoy crafting up her own themed cabarets, mostly performed at The Metropolitan Room! Sasha continues to do various cabarets and readings in the city.
She has just moved to San Deigo, CA to attend Grad School for her MFA in Musical Theatre at San Diego State University!! She is happy to be back in the Cali sun!!
Thanks for stopping by!
